Every one of our facial features is unique to every individual.
Together, the sum of each of our facial features determines whether we are considered attractive or indeed, perhaps not as we could be. Scientific research has proven that the more symmetrical and in-proportion a face is, the more it is considered to be visually appealing, regardless of background or ethnicity.
The nose is a focal point of the face and is one of the primary things noticeable about someone, at first glance. If you have a nose which is out of proportion, asymmetrical or displays unsightly lumps and bumps, it can have a significant effect on the entire appearance of your face, and your confidence. In years gone by, surgical intervention was the only option for someone who wanted to alter the shape or size of their nose.
With the advancement of modern cosmetic medicine, fortunately, a non-surgical procedure using injectable dermal fillers can change the look of your nose almost instantly and make a profound difference to your facial appearance. At our London clinic at 23 Harley Street, we offer non-surgical rhinoplasty (or the lunchtime nose job) for exceptionally effective results, without the need for invasive surgery.
So, why choose non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Let it be said that in some cases where significant changes need to be made to the shape or size of the nose, surgical intervention may be the only option and it does offer permanent results, which is a huge bonus to many patients. However, if you have only minor cosmetic concerns, a surgical procedure may not be necessary.
If you lead a busy life and don’t have the time to take off work for surgical intervention, or feel that going under a general anaesthetic for what might be considered an unnecessary surgical procedure isn’t right for you, consider non-surgical rhinoplasty with injectable dermal fillers. It can offer you the chance to regain your confidence when it comes to a flaw in your facial features which may have been causing you some embarrassment, and change those unsightly lumps or straighten out your nose, without the risks or the downtime, associated with invasive surgery.
Before deciding on which route to take, it’s important to gather as much information and advice as you possibly can. This is why, here at the Harley Street Face Clinic, we ask that you attend a no-obligation preliminary consultation, where we can assess your concerns and study your unique facial anatomical features. You’ll discuss the benefits and risks associated with non-surgical rhinoplasty. We will also check your medical history, to ensure that you are healthy and able to undergo any procedure, whether surgical or indeed non-surgical, safely.
This meeting is the vital first step on your journey with us at Harley Street Face Clinic. It will enable you to make an educated and informed decision on how and when you would like to proceed with your chosen treatment.
If non-surgical rhinoplasty is agreed upon as the best possible treatment for your needs, you will be invited back to the clinic to have your treatment.
What happens during a non-surgical rhinoplasty?
When you attend the Harley Street clinic for treatment, an assessment of your nose will take place. This will enable us to determine where the dermal filler will be placed. At The Harley Street Clinic, our clinical team believe in creating facial harmony, with any procedure balancing your face, and never ‘over-using’ products.
Dermal fillers for the nose area consist of hyaluronic acid (HA), a vital component which is found within the joints, connective tissues, eyes and skin. Contained within a viscous gel, HA can create structure, support and build areas which need to be enhanced. Dermal fillers come in a variety of thicknesses; they last anything from four months to two years, depending on their viscosity and your response to the product. As dermal fillers for the nose are particularly heavy and thick, the results should last between 12 months and two years. Here at The Harley Street Face Clinic, we insist on using only the highest-grade, clinically-tested and proven products, renowned for their safety, efficacy and longevity.
After the initial assessment of your nose and the proportions of your facial features have been measured, the doctor will commence the treatment. Before the procedure, a small amount of topical anaesthetic will be applied to minimise any discomfort you may otherwise experience. This cream is formulated to our ever-exacting standards, imported to the Harley Street Face Clinic from Germany.
A cannula (a blunt needle which minimises bruising by purposely gliding past blood vessels within the skin) will be used for this procedure; they result in less bruising and faster healing. Once you are suitably numb, the doctor will inject small amounts of the chosen dermal filler into the areas which need addressing.
This could be the following:
• A crooked or misshapen nose
• A small nose that requires building up or enlargement
• A hooked nose that would benefit from straightening out
• A mild to moderate bump or bridge of the nose
• A nose requiring refinement following surgical rhinoplasty
• A nose that requires more height, definition or a more pronounced nasal tip
After the injections, the dermal filler may be massaged and molded under the skin, to sculpt, shape and refine the look of your correction.
The procedure should not be painful and will take around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of enhancement required. Afterwards, you’ll be able to see significant results, but you might experience some swelling and slight bruising for a few days later. Once this subsides, the true results can be seen.
Aftercare and follow-up
As with any non-surgical procedure, it’s crucial to adhere to any aftercare advice that we offer you. In the case of non-surgical rhinoplasty, this can include not touching the area for at least 6 hours, avoiding hot saunas, baths and steam rooms, avoiding strenuous exercise or any contact sports for at least 24 hours (longer if they are extremely physical or could risk trauma to the nose), not wearing makeup for 24 hours after treatment and being generally careful with any contact with your nose.
Having said all of this, most patients can return to your general daily activities immediately after your non-surgical nose job. There is very little downtime or side-effects such as recovery from anaesthetic, sutures or heavy bruising around the eyes. A small proportion of patients get redness, swelling or mild bruising. Harley Street Face Clinic will be on hand if you experience any concerns after your treatment.
When you can see your full results, around two weeks after your procedure, you will be invited back to The Harley Street Face Clinic for a follow-up appointment. At this stage, you can both assess the results, and the doctor can use further injections for any minor tweaks that might be required. Again, if there is re-treatment, you will need to follow any aftercare guidance to ensure the best results possible.
