What is non-surgical rhinoplasty?

The ‘no-knife’ nose job is rapidly becoming a ‘go-to’ procedure for those unhappy with their current nasal shape. It is a quick, outpatient treatment and there is no need for a general anaesthetic and no cutting, breaking bones or lengthy recovery time. A dermal filler, which contains hyaluronic acid (HA) suspended in a heavily viscous gel substance is injected in to very specific areas of the nose to re-shape, contour and straighten areas of concern.

What is hyaluronic acid (HA)?

HA is a naturally occurring substance found in the body, responsible for youthful and firm skin. It is present in abundance in youth but rapidly depletes, year-on-year, after the age of around 21. This substance is used in a medically synthesized gel, to build and re-shape areas of the nose as it forms a supporting structure for the overlying skin. It can even replicate the appearance of cartilage in certain areas of need.

How do I know if I am suitable for non-surgical rhinoplasty?

Most people with asymmetry or a misshapen nose can benefit from non-surgical rhinoplasty using dermal fillers. However, before we commence a treatment, our team will assess your unique and individual concerns and desires in a full pre-treatment consultation, conducted at our clinic here in Harley Street. We will take a full medical history and examine your nose, as well as the rest of your facial proportions to ascertain whether the treatment will be both safe and suitable for your needs.

What happens during a non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment?

Following your initial consultation, an injectable or topical anaesthetic will be administered to the area of concern, so that you do not feel any discomfort. In some dermal filler products, the anaesthetic is added and in these cases only a small amount of topical anaesthetic may be needed. When you are fully comfortable, minimal quantities of HA dermal filler will be administered, ensuring a natural-yet-effective result. After this, your practitioner will massage and shape the area for the best result. You are fully awake during the procedure so you will be able to discuss with your practitioner how the treatment is going and the look of your nose as the treatment progresses. This means you can both monitor the procedure step-by-step until a mutually agreed outcome is met.

When will I see the results from my dermal filler nose job?

You will see some initial results immediately as the dermal filler will physically sculpt, fill out or re-shape your nose. However, there will be a period of time of swelling (a few days ) and for the dermal filler to settle into the area fully (usually around 1 to 3 weeks). After this time you will be able to see the full results. If you feel you would like to have some slight corrections after this time, your practitioner will be happy to do this for you.

You will be able to cover any bruising with light, mineral make-up, 6 hours following your dermal filler nose job procedure. As there is no sedation or general anaesthetic required for this treatment, you will be free to continue your daily activities as soon as you leave the clinic, as long as you adhere to any aftercare instructions provided.

What do I need to do after my dermal filler nose job?

You should avoid rubbing or touching the area for at least 4 hours after your treatment and it is advised that you sleep on your back that evening, so that you do not risk moving the product and rubbing your nose. It is advisable to abstain from strenuous activity for 24 hours after treatment or undergo any activities which would risk contact with your nose. It’s also advisable to avoid alcohol after your treatment for 24 hours, to minimise any bruising.

How long will the results from my non-surgical rhinoplasty last?

Results can last between 6 and 18 months, depending on the product used and your lifestyle, natural metabolism and how you take care of yourself. Because the results are relatively temporary, minor adjustments can be made at each treatment, as your face changes over time. This means you will always retain a natural appearance. This is the beauty of dermal fillers. As the years go by, these changes will ensure that the treatment you receive compliments your face and offers your facial features the nose that will compliment them, year in year out.

Dermal fillers are globally famous for not only changing faces but changing lives. A non-surgical rhinoplasty can increase your confidence and sense of wellbeing, without undergoing drastic surgery or having to endure weeks of downtime.
