Tear trough filler

BeforeAfter

• Patient description: This patient wished to have her lower eyelid hollowing improved. She had previously undergoing blepharoplasty however there had remained some hollowing in her tear trough area. Hyaluronic acid filler injectables were placed along the lower tear trough area to smoothen out the area between her eyelid and cheek.

• Diagnosis: Lower eyelid-cheek volume loss, eyelid bags.

• Procedure performed: Hyaluronic acid filler injections to the infraorbital rim (aka tear trough) with a cannula (no bruising technique). Although the tear trough area can be improved with lower blepharoplasty techniques, if there is some depression remaining this can be effectively treated with fine amounts of filler.

• Technique: Cold temperature & local anaesthesia.

• Location: 23 Harley Street, London.

BeforeAfter

• Patient description: This patient wished to have her lower lid bags improved. She had early hollowing in his lower eyelid area (termed tear trough). The appearance was making her “bags” or lower eyelid fat more visible. Although a lower eyelid blepharoplasty may provide a longer-lasting result for eye bags the changes were relatively mild and not sufficient to justify surgery. Hyaluronic acid filler injectables were placed along the lower infraorbital rim area to result in a more even appearance and a natural rejuvenation.

• Diagnosis: Early lower eyelid volume loss and mild eyelid bags.

• Procedure performed: Hyaluronic acid filler injections to the infraorbital rim (aka tear trough) with a cannula (no bruising technique). Of key importance with Filler rejuvenation in the lower eyelid area is avoiding a puffy swollen appearance as this is not flattering or natural. Key is the application of the technique and type of filler in this area. As filler in the area around the eyelid is far more sensitive to swelling a specific filler that does not swell is required to ensure a good result. Many patients attend our clinic for revision of lower eyelid filler requiring the filler to be dissolved and then retreated with the correct filler or surgical alternative (blepharoplasty with fat transfer).
